The Matrix: how Lucifer created the Big Lie.

In a few sentences, tell me what you think 1John 5:19b means "The Whole World" Lies in wickedness. What would you recognize as some of the more important "devices" used to make the Cosmos diabolicus (world system) function. Check back often to your post for follow up comments fellow by your fellow students and myself.. enjoy!

  1. The World (system) is inherently wicked because it's under Satan's influence/kingdom. The word "lies" can be defined as "kept in a specified state," so you could say the World's system is kept in a state of wickedness. Some key devices the World functions in include Deception, Confusion, and Division.

    1. Yes, M, the word "Wicked" is appropriate; it speaks of infectious evil (poneros). But what institutions and platforms does the wicked one use to, as you said, make for deception, confusion and division??

    2. Deception, confusion and division are communicated and reinforced by the liberal media, arts and entertainment industries, and the government. Examples: liberal media reporting partial/erroneous information to divide and deceive; arts and entertainment pushing the idea that great wealth and physical beauty will bring the highest level of satisfaction in life; the government fosters the notion that they are our provider.

    3. "In this world, but not of it," "Victory in Jesus." we sing it, and know he reigns...the kingdom to come is our real home....Rev 1:8, 11, 17-18; the finished his-story book of Revelation....the world's confusion, is swallowed up on God's love, grace and mercy...what do you think all?

    4. I think having a Biblical world view has the Cross of Jesus Christ in the center; We are to stand in stark contrast to the cosmic agenda. As M was saying, Liberal media, Hollywood, and Politics are effective and engulfing (Roaring Lion) wiles of the devil. Are there other not so obvious programs to note?

    5. Obvious, yet perhaps somewhat more subtle is the public education system and it's resistance to Creation and platform of man being both king and creator of his destiny.

  2. Genesis 3:1-6 (ESV)
1 Now the serpent was craftier than any other beast of the field that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, 3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’” 4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. The world would take the word of God, and use man’s religion to change the minds, thoughts of the believer to confuse them, redirect their steps

    1. Appreciate M.'s and W.'s comments above.
Thankfully we can know and stand in 1 John
      5:19, James 3:15, Eph. 12:11, and 2 Cor. 10:4.
It's good to learn that partial armor of God is not sufficient. The class notes emphasize that if we miss any parts of the armor, we are left
open to Satan and his armies, that we must pray.

    2. Yes! good point J. The fact of armor attests to conflict. It is to the detriment of the believer to be passive: Can one please share the difference between passivity and faith- rest??

    1. Yes, W. It is amazing how religion - and I don't mean just worshipping another god, has been used in the cosmic system. What do all the other religions hold in common that is different from Biblical Christianity?

  6. Wickedness it the quality of being evil, or morally wrong. The World is wicked and can of itself produce no good thing, we can't expect anything good to come from a world full of sin.

  7. Evil, immorality, sin, iniquity, offense are just some of the things that result from wickedness. All these things are the total opposite of what and who we are in Christ. Christ is the only true answer to overcome the wickedness of this Worlds System!

    1. That's quite a list, K.. and all true. .But where does morality fit in.?

  8. Gen 3:1-6 (especially verse 5), and Job 1:8; he is but a defeated fallen angel, but who is powerful in the art of deception and defeat. In Christ we put him in his place and walk uprightly in God's perfect love. We are so much more than conquerers through Christ's love that strengthens us...in our own minds and thinking we are quickly lost...but in his all things do work together for the God for us that love him. We just need to be consistently wearing the armor (especially the helmet) that protects our minds from his fiery darts....praise God for preaching, and the covering through our pulpit...Amen, doctrine filling our thoughts and daily purposes...and its a free gift to all...sharing our faith, and exalting our Lord (Ex 15:2).

  9. We are placed in this world to be a light and an example to others. Our lives can be a testimony as we stay focused on the One who sends us out.

  10. "We know the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one" because Satan is the prince of this world, and so it is under his unfluence. He uses things that look good on the outside but are full of poison on the inside to draw people in, like with Eve, the apple, and the serpent.

    1. True. You understand the process of deception, but what are some of the means used to get people drawn in today...? I don't even like apples!

  11. It's important for me to remember that although the
Big Lie is from Satan's realm, it does not bear his
signature for all to see, in order to identify its author.
Sadly, the world systems values of material success,
ungodly relationships, and anything is ok if one does it
to make money "for survival", as well as "success".
Only the finger of God casts out Satan..

  12. In different areas of media, such as: Music, Television, Cell Phones, Internet, Radio, Newspaper, Electronic Mail, etc. The main device that Satan uses in the world system is Music. The main reason: why music is a large problem in the world system is because Satan desires worship (Isaiah 14:14). He uses Rap, Rock, Heavy Metal and any other genre to be influence by the vibrations in the different musical instruments that are used today. All this music goes into a person's five parts of the soul.

    1. Wow. powerful statement. So is there any justification for Christian rap, hip hop or alternative music that is intended for Him and believers? Your thoughts....

  13. The link on this page to"Let My People Think" of RZIM
has a 11/20/13 presentation by video of "The Problem
of Suffering and the Goodness of God" is thought pro-
voking. Many people, believers and unbelievers alike,
are deceived by Satan that their own, or someone be-
loved by them, has to go through so much suffering.
We/they ask "Where was God?, Why?" Some conclude it proves there must be no God--and Satan
"wins". I appreciate especially the comment: "The God Who is omnipotent has a way of reaching people in ways that you and I could never imagine." Again, prayer & full armor of God are my take away.

  14. In I John 5:19b-' the whole world system lies in the wickedness. The world system is occupied by the operational realm of Satan, which is in the 1st Heaven. Satan has a sophisticated system and intelligence that derives from the Wisdom from below (James 3:15).

    1. Spot on, WK ! Yet, as we have heard, child-like faith can overcome sophisticated darkness! Does anyone know the meaning of zeitgeist, and how it applies to our subject??

      Delete
  15. The word “zeitgeist” can be used to refer to how our thoughts are molded by the social environment in which we are living. In our present world we see how the media is used to define how we should look physically, what we should wear, what moral values are valid or not, etc... Social media on the internet is used to draw people into a circle of friends whose values they feel comfortable with, rather right or wrong thereby possibly reinforcing the idea that improper behavior in a certain area is ok. The influence of the media in all areas of our lives only makes the need for us to always be wearing the full armor of God a number one priority.

  16. As the children of God, we have an understanding of perfectness and holiness. We see that the world is wicked and full of Satan's devices use to blind people from the truth. Corruption is one of the biggest things I see today in this world system. People don't care anymore about the other. It becomes a game of, who has more and it doesn't matter how we get to it. This is a sad reality in our governments, schools and workplaces.

  17. As children of God we know what is perfect and holy means. The people of this world are blinded by the devices of Satan living in this wicked world not even realizing it. I think one of the biggest devices today that the Devil uses is corruption. It is present everywhere. In our governments, schools, workplaces. People think that having a lot will save them and they are ready to do anything in order to get what the goal is. It's a really sad thing because we just step over people for our good.

    1. Amazing, D ! An independent survey was taken from many parts of the world and from different walks of life. It was found that the overwhelming issue for the human race was not disease, poverty, overpopulation, war.... but corruption. Imagine that.

  18. the world is under the control of Satan. He is "the prince of the power of the air" and he and his demons influence the atmosphere. Satan's devices are to blind people from the truth; preventing them from seeking God by keeping them appeased and distracted with temporal things that the world has to offer. He leads people to look for instant gratification, that does not satisfy because it is of no eternal value. Believers know about the Devil's devices, Prov 1:17, and thinking with God makes these traps obvious to us.

    1. Yes, F. The cosmos is very real, yet very hidden. Working in the very everyday details of life. It is often said, "the devil is in the details' yet I like to think that Christ is in my details... meaning, although I am in the devils world, I yet can discern and see the Lord in my daily routine.

  19. Many things can take God's place in our lives. This includes anything that substitutes for the true faith, anything that denies Christ's full deity and humanity, any human idea that claims to be more authoritative than the Bible, any loyalty that replaces God at the center of our life.

  20. The kingdom of darkness Lucifer was a good smart Angel who became corrupted by pride and a lust for power. His deception and trickery has infected and affected us all. He use every tool necessary to win us into His court through television, electronics, family, our thought process, relationships, money by any means necessary.
