Having the Full Thought of God

What could happen to my belief system, if I were to know and believe about Jesus Death, Burial, and Resurrection, but not much about the Ascension and Session? Or does it not matter at all?

  1. If I do not embrace and regularly enjoy the truth of the ascension, I may lack the hope, joy, and confidence of my own future in heaven (live and in person - seeing Him and being like Him - 1 Jn 3:2). In not embracing the truth of the Session, I would be robbed of the glorious peace and confidence in the Savior's continual intercession for me with the Father. On both counts - God forbid!!!

    1. This makes me so happy knowing we do know about His session and we can have confidence in Christ always interceding for us! Romans 8: 34- "Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us."

  2. If I did not know about the Ascension of Jesus, I could not have guaranteed hope in my heart of one day Him taking me to heaven. The Ascension also shows us that we are the bride of Christ and one day we will be holy and without blemish... that promise gives me so much joy and confidence in life and I can trust God. I live my life knowing I have a future in eternity with my Lord and Savior and that only comes through understanding His Ascension! Without knowing the session of Jesus Christ, I may live in constant unrest and never experience true resting in the Finished Work of what He has done for me. Christ is in session, to make intercession for us. Rom 8':34

  3. If I did not hear much about the Ascension and the Session of Jesus: then, He would have no glorified body and He would not be able to sit at the right hand of God. Therefore, Believers would not beeternally secured and we would lack the experience in sitting in Heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6).

    1. True, W. We may not know much about this 'Glorified Body' that we will be getting, but we are assured that we will get it! What does sitting in Heavenly places mean in your personal experience??

  4. The ascension and session play such an important place in our Christian life because without His Ascension the Holy Spirit would not have been poured out on the Church as we read in John 16:7. In the Session we now have representation before the Father where we may “obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” as it says in Hebrews 14:16.

    1. I really agree with the thought of not having a representation before the Father if the ascension didn't happen. Christ was the bridge between our sins and God so we can have an eternal relationship with our Savior.

    2. Yes, and it is amazing that It was absolutely necessary for Jesus to ascend and be glorified BEFORE the Holy Spirit could come and indwell redeemed humanity. John 7.39. So, humanity in heaven and heaven in my humanity!

    3. It is also wonderful to realize that because of His crucifixion and ascension we are now ambassadors for Him with the mission to implore others to be reconciled to God as we read in 2 Corinthians 5:20.

  5. If we as believers did not believe in the ascension and session then it really wouldn't give me a chance to grow in this walk. If all I did was believed that Christ died was buried and rose again there would in a way I would be lacking. I have to know why Christ did what He did and to know that in this life, He is the one doing the work through me. Thats why it is so important to know that in John 15:16-17 it says,"You did not choose Me, but I chose you...." The Ascension speaks of returning Christ returned to the Father when His perfect plan was fulfilled. Now in the Session He is interceding on our behalf. He's doing the work, not us! That takes so much pressure off of us just to know that.

    1. That is so good and freeing to realize that we are not doing the work. Philippians 2:13 says "For it is God which worketh in you". After all, what is it that I have to bring, as Isaiah 64:6 says "our righteousness are as filthy rags". Christ is doing the work through me, thank God!

    2. Yes, K, and it was at his Ascension that we have the prophetic declaration that He will be coming again! Acts 1:11

  6. Without the understanding of the ascension I wouldn't have any confidence in my position in Christ, no comfort in the Holy Spirit as the indwelling comforter, and I'd have no idea the position of Christ as Eph1:20-23. Without the session we wouldn't be clothed in Christ's righteousness therefore couldn't be brought in front of the Father as clean. I'd have no security in Jesus Christ at all.

  7. It's an amazing thought just to know that in Christ's Session, we can rest in the finished work. The work has already been completed. The Session reveals the authority of another kingdom in Colosians 1:13. It reveals the Legal justification of the Believer in Romans 8:33 and God's Declaration of Spiritual Independence in Romans 3:26. It shows so much about God's love toward us and what He has given to us and how we are now able to walk in this work in our everyday lives.

  8. The ascension speaks of Christ returning from where He came, back to His Father. It prepared the way for the coming of the Holy Spirit to come into the church. The session is the interceding. Christ is seated and He lives to make intercession for every believer.

  9. I was just thinking about how partial truth is dangerous, and useless. What is the point in believing in something that is not correctly fulfilled. As Christians our goal should be to be united with Christ in heaven, but this is only possible if we accept the fact of the Ascension and Session of Christ.

    1. I agree about the partial truth, when i think of the enemy I think of how much he tries to gain on partial truth in a believers life.

  10. My belief system would be in jeopardy if I doubted the Ascension and session of Jesus Christ. If Jesus Didn't fulfill what he came to do what he came to do, there would be no gospel. Jesus promised that when he left, he would send back the Counselor/Spirit of Truth. 3 tasks of the Holy Spirit are, convicting the world of its sin and calling it to repentance, revealing the standard of God's righteousness to repentance, 2) revealing the standard of God's righteousness to anyone who believes, because Christ could no longer be physically present on earth, and 3) demonstrate Christ's judgment over Satan. (This was taken from "Life Application Study Bible." John 16: 8-11.

  12. Without knowledge of the Ascension we would not understand that we, the body, are Christs bride. We would not understand our position and just how treasured we are. Eph 5:27 speaks of this. Christ will present the Body as holy and with out blemish.

  13. Jesus's birth, death, and resurrection are crucial to the believer's faith. Knowing though that Christ ascended to heaven is what keeps us with the knowledge that He is in heaven, that He is with God and that is where we will go. It is important to know that Jesus is a man, but more than that, God's son, He is Holy. His place is with His Heavenly Father as it is in our hearts.

  14. I believe about Jesus' Death, Burial, and Resurrection, but I need to know where is He now and where is my place, after this world ends, with Him. When I know about my place, it gives me hope to live this life and be a good witness for Him and big hope and joy to share His Gospel with unbelievers. It quickens me.

from many other religions. We know that Heaven has a glorified Man, and that is to be our future destiny. Awesome!

  15. It definitely does matter. if thats all you know then you are only understanding half the concept of the finished work. you dont have the full picture. your belief system would be shaky and not have a solid foundation. If you don't believe that Christ can inter-seed in a situation you are missing a major point in what Christ did on the cross for us!

    1. Yes, but it appears that people who believe in what Jesus Christ did on the cross was enough for them - what are they missing w/o the ascension and session?? pw

  16. Preaching the Gospel is the most important thing we as believers should do. If we would not have any information about session or ascension we would be lacking in knowledge of Christian faith and outreach might not seem important at all. It is very important for the condition of our soul to know that JC is working in us and through us.

  17. First of all, I think as Christians it is our duty to embrace every word of the Bible. Neglecting the session and ascension of Christ would be rejection part of His word. Without an understanding of the session and ascension, one cannot fully understand the finished work. After all, the work was not finished until our Savior ascended.

    1. Yes, Michka, the actual Session of Christ is the proclamation of the Finished Work in the realm of the Angels; He has returned from a triumphal mission and will be awarded the Body as His Bride for doing so! pw

  18. Dying to self could appear pretty gloomy without the full
picture of all Christ has done besides dying for us, although His dying was vital. Christ's Ascension gives
us the truth of His uniqueness as God, and gives renews our hope that we can give Him all that we are. He released the Holy Spirit to indwell us, enabling us to die to self but become a new creation, in Christ's image.

  19. The Ascension and Session of Jesus Christ are vital to becoming a mature Christian, For years it seemed sufficient to live in the first 3, essentially the 7 days of Easter Season. As we learn, believe, and receive the
Holy Spirit after Christ's Ascension, we add the result
of resting in His Finished Work. We are righteous in Jesus without our works; it is a gift by faith. As we realize His intercession for us at the Right hand of the Father, our prayers become emboldened, and our work is to glorify God, and obediently live out His plan for our life, with joy whatever the circumstances He allows.

  25. I believe the Word of God is true from Genesis to Revelation. If I were to believe in Jesus' death, burial and resurrection and not in His ascension and session, then my belief system would be drfastically altered. I would only have half truths. Throughout the scriptures it is referred to Christ's death, burial, resurrection, ascension (lifting up) and session (being seated at the right hand of the Father).Is. 6:1, Is. 52:13, Ps.139:8; John 20:17, John 6:62, Luke 24:28; II Cor. 20:116, 17.

    1. Each prophecy in the scripture is fulfilled throughout the Bible. If we pick and choose what to believe and what not to believe, there is danger in our belief system. Also if we believed an error in one part, it would cause you to question other parts.

    2. Every word in the Bible is truth directly from Gods mouth. Knowing that I can take every word from the Bible as truth with out a doubt or questioning is so amazing.

  26. To believe in Christ's death, burial and resurrection is only part of the act. One must believe in His ascension and session because the ascension declares His work on the cross - it is finished. It demonstrates that there was nothing else more that could be done for our sin and that He alone has accomplished our redeemption. (Heb. 9:11,12, John 7:33). The ascension would prove His didvine origin and that He had been sent of God to solve man's problem.(John 6:62). Also He is seated at the right hand of the Father, interceeding on our behalf. Matt 6:26, Mark 14:62, Acts 5:31. I must believe all and not part of this truth! It validates who Christ is and what He did on the cross and what He will do until we are united in Heaven.

  27. How could it not matter? Our whole thinking and belief system is about the ascention and session. If Jesus didn't rise and go to the right hand of the Father, then how could we have thinking with God? We think like God because we believe Jesus died, was buried, rose and was seated. There also would be no Trinity...it would only be God and the Holy Spirit and that is not what the Bible says.

  28. How could it not matter? The basis of our thinking with God is about the ascention and session. If we did not have either, our thinking and belief system would be all wrong. We also would not have the Trinity...Jesus died and rose again and was seated at the right hand of the Father. Without that, there would only be God and the Holy Spirit. The Bible proves otherwise.

  29. It is extremely important that we understand the ascention and session, because if not it wouldn't be any descention of the Holy Spirit or any intercession from Jesus Christ on behalf of born again believers.

  30. We would be able to be confident in our salvation, knowing that our sins are paid for, but if we knew nothing about how Christ is living to make intercession for us now, and is seated at the right hand of the Father, we wouldn't know about the realtionship we could have with all three members of the trinity.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Having the full thought of God is essential. With all five of these parts together, we have the full thought of God on the subject. The Trinity gives us authority and boldness. We can rest in this. We are His chosen ones. We have an authority from another Kingdom and the world (and the unseen forces) know this. We have an assurance and confidence that doesn't come from us.

  32. I guess I would be loss maybe none existent. Jesus ascension marked the end of the 40 day period during when His rising appeared to the disciples Acts 1:3. It was also marked the point of when the Holy spirit would be poured out in power of the church and marked the beginning of His session at the right hand of God.
