Temple Dwellers

1 Cor. 3.16 says that we are the temple of God.
1- If this allegory can be taken farther, how does the temple's design speak to our design?
2- Why will understanding our "intangible anatomy" in this way lead us in true worship, prayer, and ministry?

  1. We are God's dwelling place - His sanctuary; the Holy Place included the table of Showbread(12 loaves+7 (FW) candlesticks). Because of the Finished Work, God has invited us to have informal fellowship in the Holy of Holies where we are sustained by divine intimacy and nutrition (the Bread/Word). This incredible provision and welcoming into God's presence inspires us to say thank you, boldly come to the throne, and to share with others what we've been freely given.

    1. Amen, love it....Christ in us, the hope of glory....boldly, what a plan; you've hit our "intangable identity" right on the money....so we have as we recently heard, money in the bank! We can dependon it, and know it is for real, and for keeps...what an amazing God we serve (as we sing), the temple is forever in our Lord, and as every part of the Old testament spoke of, the lamb of God has come and fulfilled our access to him, and the living of the HS in us....praise God Mr. S, from Mr. S....in Christ we have all things! :)

  2. 1 Corinthians 3:16-19 (NCV) 16 Don’t you know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? 17 If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person, because God’s temple is holy and you are that temple. 18 Do not fool yourselves. If you think you are wise in this world, you should become a fool so that you can become truly wise, 19 because the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. It is written in the Scriptures, “He catches those who are wise in their own clever traps. “ God loves us he gave his life for us to live; we really love him as we say we do, let us live ,try to live as he would live.Aman

  3. We are the temple of God; therefore, we have access to His prescence at all times, and like the mercy seat is sprinked with blood, our hearts are sprinked clean. Hebrews 10:22 says let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

    1. What a refreshing comment, Faith. John 7:38
"He that believeth on Me,...out of his belly shall
      flow rivers of living water."

  4. What a perfect design! Job 12:7-11, Prov 16:4, all around us is his plan and creation, we are thus created in his image for his purpose...what a great God. Also, we have access to the Holy of Holies, now all the time as the partian has been reint, and there is no more need for the blood sacrifice of lambs and goats...Jesus has paid our debt. As Luther shined the light for us, "the just shall live by faith", our minds are cleansed, and we just continue to look up for his will....he is a faithful God...what are your thoughts classmates?

  5. We have the Holy Spirit inside of us. That area needs to be protected from outside forces. It is a precious place; a holy place; a sacred place. Having fellowship with other believers is essential (iron sharpeneth iron), but we MUST have an intimate relationship with the One who made us and really knows us. It is essential to have one on one time with God, with NO distractions. We need that quiet resting place.

    1. Amen - Oh how we need Him! Psalm 84:2 My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts of the Lord; My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

  6. The temple was designed with 3 main parts, an outer court, the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies. This could be analogous to the trichotomous design of man: the outer court being the body, the Holy Place the soul, and Holy of Holies the human spirit. This was just my immediate thought and I’m not sure how complete the analogy is. Maybe I’ll add more later.

  7. In 1 John 5:19b "The Whole World" Lies in wickedness refers to those who have not accepted Christ as their Savior. Believers are children of God and those who are not are under the control of the evil one, Satan. As the Bible says, people either belong to God and obey him, or they live under Satan's control. In 1Peter 5:8, the Bible speaks of how Satan employs his devices to deceive believers. Keep this in mind: Any area of one's mind that's not filled with sound doctrine can become filled with Satan's doctrine.

    1. Though difficult to imagine we could be operating in Satan's camp, you hit the nail on the head with your 'either or' (black or white) statements, James!

  8. Jn. 2:21 speaks of the temple of His Body. We are the
temple/sanctuary of the Holy Spirit of God. As the Trinity is made up of Father, Son, and Spirit, so man
has 3 parts, body, soul, and spirit---at once.

  9. In 1st Corin. 3:16 tells us that we are God's Temple. In Rom. 12:1 It speaks of our bodies being a living sacrifice. We do not own ourselves everything from the crow of our heads to every fiber of our beings belongs to God. We are to take care of God's Temple by living Holy, God the father created us, god the Son redeemed us and The holy Spirit resides in us.
